NEWARK, NJ – When I was little, I had a group of friends whom would gather on a weekly basis to play cards. We played spades typically, which eventually led to competitions and tournaments between teams and players. However, oftentimes, many of the cards got lost in the midst of things which made it kind of difficult to play correctly. No matter what you do or what game of cards you’re playing….you always need a Full Deck.

On Friday December 4th, six young men brought this to the table. The group name? Full Deck. A young Rahway-based hip hop group composed of BabySpadez, JulzDiamondz, DeuceGambles and the big man as well as hype man of the crew, SinCityJerz. They were also joined by fellow artists TheRealN1S and iJustIncredible. And these fellas bring heat.
I was invited out by the group personally to come and see them perform. I had heard some of their music previously and liked the sound. However, while many artists perform well in the studio, they tend to be commonly lackluster when it comes to live performances. This night at Koffee Kove in Newark, NJ, however, Full Deck proved themselves to be among the exception. Performing two of their latest tracks “Bed Rock” (the group’s rendition of Yung Money’s popular radio track) and “Panties Drop”, they definitely came to show and prove.
The group’s energy moved with the beat of the music as they bounced playfully over the tracks delivering some lovable homegrown music.
The group’s barrage of hard hitting lyrics and playful subject matter is well worth every moment. The highlight of the night was definitely when during “Panties Drop” a group of young women from the crowd threw panties at the group members on stage. Staged? Perhaps. Regardless, rather entertaining and made for a great show.
Keep an eye out for these guys as they continue to deliver. On the “come up”, they are getting into stance preparing for a launch in the near future. Keep an eye out for not only their solo mix tapes but also the group LP sometime in 2010.
